How times have changed in the design and production world. How many of you remember these nightmares?
Marker comps and rubdown type
Putting down bluelines on a production board
Speccing type
Waxed gallies
Finding a percentage on a proportion wheel
Getting a logo enlarged on a stat camera
Cutting in type correction
Today computers with design, illustration and photographic software save us innumerable hours helping us to be much more productive. Recently, I found this Havoline/Land Rover ad in my files. It was probably one of the last non-computer produced ads I ever did. I hand-lettered the headline as I couldn’t find a font I liked. Later the ad became a poster and was distrubuted to Land Rover dealerships around the country.
